Accounting Process Implementation Project Manager 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

 

The Accounting Process Implementation Project Manager will play a pivotal role in the design, configuration, and deployment of accounting processes under the company’s transition from Microsoft Dynamics to SAP S/4HANA.

This position bridges business requirements, accounting standards, and technology — ensuring that the new ERP enables accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and full compliance with IFRS and local regulations.

The role combines deep accounting expertise with process transformation and system implementation experience to deliver a future-proof, efficient finance operating model.

Responsibilities:

 

Process Design & Implementation

 

  • Act as the subject matter expert across key finance areas, including General Ledger, Financial Closing, Consolidation, Fixed Assets, and Reporting.
  • Translate accounting and reporting requirements into system configurations and workflows that enhance automation and control.
  • Collaborate with IT, Finance Transformation, and external implementation partners to ensure that system design aligns with business needs and accounting principles.
  • Lead the design, configuration, testing, and documentation of accounting processes and master data governance within SAP S/4HANA.

 

Compliance & Controls

 

  • Ensure all accounting processes are compliant with IFRS/GAAP, corporate policies, and statutory regulations in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Design and validate control frameworks for journal entries, reconciliations, and closing activities.
  • Support external and internal audits by ensuring documentation and traceability of financial transactions and configurations.

 

Data Governance & Quality

 

  • Oversee setup and governance of financial master data (chart of accounts, cost centers, profit centers, asset categories, etc.).
  • Collaborate with data owners to ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity during data migration and steady-state operations.
  • Validate system outputs against accounting standards and group reporting requirements.

 

Testing, Training & Change Management

 

  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), data migration validation, and post-go-live stabilization for accounting modules.
  • Support end-user training and the creation of process documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to accounting teams, helping them adapt to new system capabilities and process improvements.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance accounting and ERP process knowledge.

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience within a multi-entity or multinational organization.
  • Strong expertise in financial close, statutory reporting, and consolidation processes.


Technical Skills:


  • Proven experience with SAP (preferably S/4HANA, FI/CO modules).
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and consolidation tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical tools.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of IFRS/GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across Finance, IT, and external partners.
  • Ability to manage complex deliverables in a fast-paced, transformation-driven environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Preferred: Prior experience in the airline industry or other asset-intensive, multi-entity organizations.
