Airport and Network Development Controller 

Based in Budapest 

Purpose of the position:
The Airport and Network Development Controller will support financial planning and cost analysis for Wizz Air’s expanding route network and airport partnerships. The role is critical for driving cost-saving initiatives and providing robust financial stewardship to ensure the success of new market entries and route launches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost trend analysis and support airport cost negotiations.
• Competitor Benchmarking: Benchmark financial metrics against industry competitors to identify areas for improvement.0
• Route Assessments and Financial Planning: Collaborate closely with Network Development and Airport Development teams to evaluate new route opportunities and optimize existing ones. Analyse profitability and unit cost from various aspects, establish and monitor key profitability targets and route/airport/base/airline-based profitability and cost stewardship principles.
• Effectively manage relationships across departments with diverse backgrounds, including business-focused and finance teams, while engaging with stakeholders at various hierarchical levels, from Officers to Managers.
• Contract Financial Conditions’ Assessment : Provide financial oversight for contracts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals of both the Group and individual Airlines.
• Cost Reporting: Facilitate comprehensive unit cost, contribution reporting for airport and network operations.
• Performance Measurement: Track and report on KPIs to ensure alignment with ULCC principles.
• Provide Support for Comprehensive System Implementations: Support successful implementation of SkyMetrix and other cost management and stewardship tools.

Professional Development Opportunities:

• Training in advanced analytics and reporting tools, including SQL and Power BI.
• Exposure to senior leadership through performance review meetings.
• Opportunities to lead financial planning initiatives for new market entries.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial controlling or airport/network planning roles.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on cost management.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; SQL and Power BI skills are essential.
• Experience of working with Power BI, SAP Analytics, SQL or Python is a plus.
• Experience in the aviation industry is highly desirable.

• Reports to the Senior Manager of Controlling.
