Aviation Security Manager 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
 
As Aviation Security Manager, you will lead aviation security activities for Wizz Air Hungary, ensuring strong security standards, regulatory compliance and effective risk management across our operations. You will work closely with senior leaders, authorities, airports and internal teams to keep our people, passengers and aircraft safe.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (MAIN ACTIVITIES, TASKS). THE FOLLOWING, BUT NOT LIMITED

 

  • Leading and managing AVSEC team members, developing their skillset, and regularly 

reviewing their individual development. 

  • Maintain relationship with key, innovative stakeholders 

  • Promoting and promulgating Group AVSEC security standards; 

  • Coordinating compliance of AOC security programs, policies and procedures to Group security standards; 

  • Ensuring an effective risk analysis, threat assessment and response capability; 

  • Providing an oversight and support to AOC with the security assessment and compliance level of airports and 3rd party providers of Wizz Air network; 

  • Preparing and coordinate, with line management, security procedures, relevant to specific fields of operations and/or processes; 

  • Managing No-Fly list related matters; 

  • Arranging security measures for high-risk flights and high-risk passengers (INAD/DEPO) including related risk assessments; 

  • Coordinates aircraft protection procedures in cooperation with security managers of AOCs and in accordance with Group security standards; 

  • Following up security and compliance trends in accordance with the established KPIs; 

  • Provides regular security updates to company management and crews in case of elevated security threat 

 

Subsequently as an AOC Security Manager is responsible to the Accountable Manager for: 

 

  • Promoting and promulgating Wizz Air Hungary security standards; 

  • Formulating an overall security policy for acceptance by Accountable Manager; 

  • Establishing, maintaining and continuously improving an effective security management system; 

  • Maintaining effective security liaison with Civil Aviation Authority of Hungary; 

  • Establishing and maintaining effective security liaison with governments, airport authorities and law enforcement agencies; 

  • Ensuring an effective risk analysis, threat assessment and response capability; 

  • Accepting or rejecting the risk and take action according to company risk tolerability matrix; 

  • Preparing and coordinate, with line management, security procedures, relevant to specific fields of operations and/or processes; 

  • Preparing and coordinate security part of training for flight, cabin crew and office employees; 

  • Monitoring effectiveness of the Wizz Air Hungary Security Program according to security quality control program; 

  • Conducting threat assessment and make special security measures operational during periods or incidents of increased threat; 

  • In conjunction with the Security Regional Specialist managing mid/ long term projects and maintaining continuous oversight of deviations from company standards, ensuring the on-time execution of security corrective and improvement actions, and the systematic risk assessment; 

  • Liaison with the Functional Heads Wizz Air Central and other AOCs of Wizz Air Group on security matters; 

  • Develops, updates and manages Wizz Air Hungary security contingency plan;  

  • Reporting all actual or suspected acts of unlawful interference with A/C operations and Mandatory Occurrences (Security) to the appropriate authority; 

 

MEETINGS 

Participating in: 

  • Security Council meeting - attend 

  • Weekly Security meeting – attend (chair in case Head of Security and Central Services or Senior Security Manager is not available) 

  • Operation Policies and Procedures Group meetings - attend 

  • Safety and Quality Council - attend (optional) 

  • D15 & AOG meeting - attend (optional) 

  • Regulation tracking working group - attend (optional) 

  • Weekly Operational Heads - (optional) 

  • Weekly Network development and Ops - attend 

  • Weekly 1 on 1 with Accountable Manager - attend 

 

AUTHORITIES OF THE FUNCTION 

The Security Manager has the authority to: 

  • Approve security assessment for new base/station opening; 

  • Approve security related part of company manuals; 

  • Request and approve immediate termination of operations in certain geographical location of Wizz Air Hungary network or network-wide in case of imminent security threat. 

  • Approve adding or deleting No Fly List record for unruly passenger 


CANDIDATE PROFILE
EXPERIENCE  

 •   4-6+ years working experience with 3+ experience working in aviation industry in managerial position  
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE  

  • Computer proficiency 

  • ICAO ASTP/Management or IATA Management; 

  • Security audit and Quality Control 

  • SMS 

  • SeMS 

  • Threat assessment 

EDUCATION  

 •    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.•    

LANGUAGES

•   Fluent English, both written and spoken

•   Fluent Hungarian language skills (both verbal and written)

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES    

•    Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
•    Detail-oriented, structured and able to make sound decisions under pressure.
•    Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work across teams.
