Base Maintenance Manager 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

Purpose of the position: 

Make sure that the heavy maintenance events are conducted on time according to the contracted maintenance agreement, within the established key performance indicator and within the allocated budget.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with WZZ Planning department
  • Establish direct contacts with contracted MRO Key Account Managers
  • Coordinate Base maintenance plan with Wizz Planning  department, ensure planned slots are fully aligned with MRO capability and capacity
  • Make sure all planned Base maintenance events are covered with Technical Representatives expert
  • Check and approve all related invoices
  • Follow up with Wizz Accounting on the payment statuses to respective providers
  • Maintain control and reporting of the performance and financial KPIs for Base maintenance on the monthly, quarterly, seasonal and yearly basis. Make sure the Base Maintenance events are in compliance with allocated budget and set KPIs. Be able to spot deviations.
  • Propose initiatives for continuous improvement, both from a quality and economical perspective
  • Attend regular meetings with WZZ Planning, Technical Supply Team and MRO
  • Setup season wash up and start meetings with MRO
  • Support WZZ End Of Lease (EOL) events as required
  • Follow up and keep up to the date records of the Technical representatives team Competence assessments and trainings
  • Follow up applicable requirements of Safety Management System

 

 

Requirements: 

Experience:

  • General experience in aircraft maintenance management, preferably within a low-cost carrier or MRO environment.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating maintenance schedules with planning team.

 

Technical skills, knowledge:

  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong understanding of contract negotiation and supplier management principles.
  • Able to interpret technical documentation, maintenance manuals, and quality standards.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and compliance with organizational manuals.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills to track maintenance KPIs and performance metrics.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Additional certifications in Aircraft Maintenance and Project management are advantageous.

 

Languages:

  • Fluent in English (C1 and above)

  • Leadership and team management capabilities with a focus on performance and development.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
