Crew Logistics Business Specialist 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

 

The Crew Logistics Business Specialist is responsible for managing financial reporting and controlling costs within crew logistics. They analyze financial data, oversee budget compliance, and implement cost-saving initiatives while collaborating with internal teams and external partners. The role also involves maintaining policies and approving expenses to ensure operational efficiency. 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

Financial Reporting & Analysis 

  • Collaborate closely with the Data Analytics team to develop financial reports that accurately reflect budget allocations, spending patterns, and other key financial metrics related to crew logistics. 
  • Analyse financial data from internal systems (e.g., CLW) and external partner reports to identify cost trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for savings. 
  • Participate in weekly follow-up meetings related to crew logistics, ensuring all relevant financial documentation and reports are up to date and accessible. 

 

 

 Cost Optimization & Best Practices 

  • Detect patterns and recommend best practices focused on cost reduction strategies, both internally within the airline and externally with service providers. 
  • Conduct regular spot-checks and market comparisons of services utilized by crew logistics to ensure competitive pricing and value for money. 
  • Develop and manage the crew logistics budget, ensuring strict cost control through rigorous invoice validation, reconciliation, and approval processes. 
  • Validate invoices from service providers (hotels, transportation, airfare, etc.), identify incorrectly allocated bookings, and coordinate with providers and financial teams to resolve discrepancies. 

 

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in projects aimed at enhancing financial reporting accuracy and improving cost control processes within crew logistics. 
  • Maintain active communication and cooperation with Financial Controlling, Operations Control, Operations Planning, and Training Planning departments to align cost management efforts and improve operational efficiency. 
  • Contribute to design, implement, and maintain sustainable and cost-efficient processes and procedures for accurate cost allocation and financial management within crew logistics. 

 

 

The Crew Logistics Business Specialist has the authority to:

  • In alignment with the supervisor modify and update  crew logistic policies, procedures and SOPs in order to minimize cost and increase efficiency. 
  • Administrate the pre-approved costs exceeding negotiated contracted hotel and transportation costs in case of exceptional events (such as mass ops disruptions, diversions, operations from non-network airports), in addition to regular invoice approval. 

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 
  • Experience in business analysis, data analysis or project management is an advantage 
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in data visualization and reporting tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
