Fuel Procurement Manager

Purpose of the role

The Fuel Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts for aviation fuel supply and related services across the Wizz Air Group. Reporting to the Head of Technical Procurement, this role plays a key role in developing and executing fuel procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring alignment with the company’s procurement policies. The position contributes directly to achieving cost efficiency, supply reliability, and environmental sustainability targets within Wizz Air. 

Responsibilities

1. Sourcing & Contract Management 

• Lead strategic and tactical sourcing, contract management, and commercial negotiations for aviation fuel supply and related services across the Wizz Air Group. 
• Develop and implement fuel category strategies and sourcing plans aligned with company objectives on cost efficiency, operational reliability, and sustainability. 
• Conduct annual jet fuel tender processes to secure uninterrupted operations at optimal cost and risk balance. 
• Develop and execute Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) procurement strategies in collaboration with the Sustainability department. 
• Prepare and manage tender documentation, including RfPs and evaluation summaries, and perform financial and operational analyses to support supplier selection and management decisions. 
• Manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, quality, and stakeholder expectations are met. 

2. Supplier Relationship & Performance Management 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for jet fuel suppliers, fostering strong, collaborative relationships that drive consistent service performance and cost reduction. 
• Monitor supplier performance against contractual terms, proactively address issues, and manage supply chain disruptions as required. 
• Negotiate contract amendments and manage renewals, ensuring adherence to governance principles and company compliance standards. 
• Identify new suppliers, perform market intelligence activities, and benchmark to maintain a competitive and resilient supplier base. 

3. Collaboration, Process Improvement & Reporting 

• Collaborate closely with internal departments (Operations, Finance, Sustainability, Legal, etc.) to ensure alignment on fuel strategy, budget, and supply chain performance. 
• Lead cross-functional meetings and needs assessments to develop sourcing strategies and resolve operational challenges. 
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency, scalability, and reporting processes in line with the company’s growth. 
• Prepare presentations, financial models, and executive summaries to support senior management decision-making. 
• Support other indirect procurement activities within the Technical Procurement department, as required. 
• Undertake other reasonable duties in line with the nature and responsibilities of the role. 

Experience

• 4–6+ years of overall with 3+ years of experience in a similar position. 
• Demonstrated ability to lead tenders and manage complex supplier negotiations 
• Experience in aviation fuel operations, purchase, or sales is an advantage. 
• Project management experience, with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic environment. 

Hard skills

• Strong knowledge of procurement governance, compliance, and risk management principles.  
• Analytical and financial acumen: confident with spend analysis, cost modeling, and budget monitoring.  
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). 
• Confidence in using GPT tools. 
• Availability for occasional international travel. 

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 

Language

Fluent English (both written and spoken)
