Government and Public Affairs Manager 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

The Government and Public Affairs Manager develops government relations, supports policy development, and builds connections with key industry groups, institutions, and government officials. The role requires contributing to and executing strategic lobbying in relation to key priorities of the Company. The Government and Public Affairs Manager is passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of the low-cost model and defend the interests of the Group in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute activities to maintain effective relationships with public sector representatives, regulatory bodies, institutions, and relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Represent the Group’s interests through direct interactions with public sector officials, regulatory bodies, institutions, and other stakeholders, under the guidance of management.
  • Implement lobbying actions that align with the Group’s objectives and the low-cost business model.
  • Monitor draft legislation, analyze the impact of changes, and report findings to management.
  • Prepare internal briefs and forecasts regarding public policy changes, providing practical advice and support to internal teams.
  • Draft submissions to governments, institutions, or regulatory consultations in coordination with management.
  • Develop position papers and presentations to support management in meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain a positive presence among government officials, civil servants, and parliamentarians to promote the low-cost business model.
  • Actively participate in industry events, representing the Company and supporting networking activities. 

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with 2+ years’ experience in Public/Government Affairs, Legal, Commercial, or Communications Department of a multinational company or in the public sector
  • Solid knowledge of the aviation sector
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Economics, International Affairs, International Law, or Communications
  • Fluent in professional English and Hungarian (both spoken and written)
  • Fluency in at least one more language (e.g., Polish, Romanian, German, Italian)Sound business judgment and analytical skills combined with high ethical standards
  • Strong negotiating, influencing, and diplomatic skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Presentation and organizational skills with the ability to write and translate complex issues into simple presentations
  • Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment and managing projects and relationships in multiple countries
  • Ability to work with government officials and agencies
  • Good project management skills
  • High degree of independence
  • Ability to travel
