Operations Safety and Compliance Manager

Purpose of the role

The OPS Safety and Compliance Manager reports to the Senior Manager Safety (Nominated Person SMS) on safety matters and to Compliance Manager on compliance matters. 

Responsibilities

The Junior OPS Safety and Compliance Manager is responsible for safety management activities as follows:  

• Taking part in development and maintenance of Wizz Air’s Safety Management System  
• Monitoring industry legislation changes, safety trends and initiating risk mitigation actions as required  
• Performing mandatory reporting to EASA and safety investigations  
• Processing safety reports, creating and distributing actions  
• Representing assigned safety matters at various safety committee meetings  
• Analysing trends and issuing safety recommendations related to the area of responsibility  
• Managing safety projects and risk mitigation of safety issues (hazards) assigned  
• Managing safety promotion (communication) related to the area of responsibility  
• Close cooperation with other operational functions, including regular meetings and tracking of Safety Performance Indicators  
• Performing risk assessments and managing the risk register of the area assigned  
• Coordinating the wildlife hazard management program  
• Participating in internal and external safety-related cross-functional projects  
• Performing safety trainings for operations personnel as assigned  
•  The OPS Safety and Compliance Manager is responsible for compliance monitoring activities as follows:  
• Monitoring industry legislation changes, compliance trends and initiating compliance actions as required  
• Contributing to the development of Wizz Air’s Compliance Monitoring Function  
• Designs and monitors the execution of risk-based audit and inspection plans on the area of responsibility  
• Executing full scale audits/inspections including their follow-up as assigned  
• Administration of the completion of the assigned audit plan  
• Participating in internal and external compliance related cross-functional projects  
• Ensuring the systematic review and data validation relevant to finding management in particular  
• Managing audits by external / contracted auditors (including IFQP, DAQCP and WLD)  
• Performing compliance trainings as assigned  

Experience

• 1-3+ years of relevant work experience in safety or compliance field  
• Significant experience in SMS (including risk management) and compliance monitoring 
• Previous work experience in aviation safety, compliance, air carrier operations 
• Experience in management of complex projects 
• Experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management 
• Previous work experience in ground operation, safety, compliance or quality control 

Hard skills

• Good knowledge of SMS and compliance monitoring principles and requirements (EASA, ICAO, IOSA)  
• Proficiency in PC and MS Office applications 
• Experience with SMS software and tools  
• Excellent knowledge of safety management principles 

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree 

Language

Fluent English (both written and spoken)
