Powerplant Technical Engineer 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

Purpose of the role

The Powerplant Technical Engineer supports the Senior Powerplant Manager in ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of Wizz Air's fleet of engines and APUs. This includes maintenance planning, shop visit coordination, condition monitoring, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Powerplant Manager in managing the safety, reliability, technical performance, and cost of ownership of engines and APUs 
  • Follow up on powerplant/APU maintenance requirements (e.g., AD, SB, LLPs) and configuration control 
  • Develop, revise, and follow up on the Powerplant/APU Maintenance Plan 
  • Prepare, coordinate, and negotiate shop visit work scopes for powerplants and APUs 
  • Plan and coordinate shop visits with maintenance planning 
  • Review spare engine requirements for the engine removal program and ensure suitable engine provision 
  • Participate in powerplant/APU-related tenders and negotiations 
  • Collaborate with OEMs, repair shops, HME, MOC, Maintenance Planners, Technical Supply, and other departments 
  • Manage and administer maintenance reserves and warranty claims 
  • Publish relevant information for OEMs, shops, lessors, and third parties 
  • Develop, monitor, and revise the Powerplant/APU Reliability Program, including data collection 
  • Monitor and report on powerplant condition 
  • Provide support for troubleshooting and engine replacement 
  • Maintain proper technical record-keeping and administration (e.g., AD/SB statuses) 
  • Oversee powerplant/APU repairs during shop visits 
  • Ensure data integrity in internal and third-party reports 
  • Correct discrepancies identified through quality audits 
  • Ensure compliance with end-of-lease conditions for engines/APUs 
  • Follow applicable Safety Management System requirements 

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of overall experience 
  • 2+ years of experience in effective supplier management and hands-on aircraft/engine/product experience (desirable) 

Hard skills

  • Recognized Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience 
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent 
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical decision-making skills 
  • Project management expertise 
  • Commercial awareness 
  • AMOS working experience 

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent 

Language

Fluent English (both writtehn and spoken) 

Skills and competencies

  • Strong team player with high emotional intelligence 
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive in adapting to a changing environment 
  • Computer and IT literacy
