Retail Manager 

Based in Budapest 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

The Retail Manager is responsible for managing the existing WIZZ Retail revenue streams, primarily focusing on onboard sales, ensuring the right mix of products and portfolio based on profitability and customer needs. Additionally, the manager is responsible for identifying future revenue streams related to WIZZ Retail, with a special focus on inflight and out-of-flight digital customer experience. The role includes operational management, supporting Cabin Operations, and ensuring effective crew commission schemes, consistent sales performance reporting, and maintaining a competitive sales workforce.

Responsibilities:

Retail Portfolio Management

  • Manage the existing WIZZ Retail portfolio (mainly onboard sales) to enhance conversion, unit revenue, and overall profit.
  • Monitor and analyse monthly revenue performance, ensuring targets are met/exceeded on SKU level and overall.
  • Create and recommend the final onboard menu card.
  • Regularly benchmark portfolio and pricing against competition and customer demand.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational performance, brand leverage, customer demand, and satisfaction.
  • Manage pricing and promotions, planning commercial actions with a focus on the bottom line through business and pricing strategies, promotions, advertising sales, and marketing activities.

 

Retail Revenue Opportunities

  • Make mid/long-term recommendations for new WIZZ Retail revenue stream opportunities, define business cases, and lead implementation with external partners and cross-functional internal teams, focusing on digital retail experiences.

 

Inflight Service Collaboration

  • Suggest changes or enhancements in catering processes and procedures to the Inflight Service Manager (ISM) to ensure effective product offerings.
  • Provide data to the ISM to increase KPIs and ensure accurate onboard announcements that highlight profitable options.
  • Offer necessary information to the ISM to ensure that the Cabin Attendant Service Manual serves as the main reference point for crew members regarding equipment handling, EPOS usage, catering operations, and code of conduct.

 

Loading Plan and Communication

  • Coordinate changes in the loading plan and communicate with catering suppliers, taking actions when deviations in loadings or operations occur.

 

Process Review

  • Initiate regular reviews of operating processes to identify both commercial and operational enhancement opportunities.

 

Software and Hardware Management

  • Manage the launch of software and hardware selection, payment solutions with external providers.
  • Manage preflight inspiration on Wizz Air's website and app.

 

Budget Management

  • Manage budgets, set specific targets for Retail revenues, and oversee invoicing, payables, and receivables.

 

Vendor Management

  • Manage external retail vendors and suppliers, overseeing supply chain, manufacturers, and providers.
  • Manage tenders and partner selection, empowering the business in areas of technology, product sourcing, magazine publishing, advertising sales, inflight connectivity, catering, and logistics.
  • Manage daily relationships with partner account managers and continuously identify improvement areas.

 

Audit and Compliance

  • Run audits on the retail onboard program in collaboration with Wizz Air's audit manager to ensure due diligence and mitigate third-party risks.

 

Requirements:

  • Overall 4-6+ years of work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the field of business and product development
  • Business and product development & management mindset, skills, and experience.
  • Experience in digital and commercial acumen.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to transfer knowledge into actions.
  • Experience with customer experience, FMCG, and aviation industry backgrounds are a plus, though not essential.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
  • Self-motivated and proactive, willing to take initiative and shoulder responsibility.
  • Persistent, with stamina and the ability to work under pressure, ensuring tasks are prioritized and goals are met.
  • Result-oriented, dependable, and consistent.
  • Strong understanding of digital retail management.
  • Flexible, resilient, and passionate about working in the dynamically growing airline industry.
