Senior Accounting Manager 

Based in BUD - Office 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

 

The Senior Accounting Manager in Wizz HQ will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate policies and external audits. This person will manage the monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements, will collaborate with Tax and Payroll providers.

 

The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Head of Accounting and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

 

The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide key expertise knowledge of IFRS and compliance resulting the identification and resolution of compliance matters within the organization.
  • Be familiar with Accounting Policy of Wizz Air, and the accounting policies applied by key industry players
  • Supervise the work of Accounting Managers in HQ as direct reports
  • Provide HQ Oversight on services received from Process Solutions - SSC and its subcontractors
  • Support in preparation of consolidated financial statements and management reporting in accordance with company policies and IFRS.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
  • Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades or phased implementation of new ERP software
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance, coordinate audit activities, including distribution of tasks within Wizz
  • Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report
  • Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions
  • Analyse the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of IFRS
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
  • Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns
  • Work with Audit, Tax and Treasury Manager to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities through annual report
  • Harmonize accounting functions: internal/external financial statement preparation, financial inventory oversight, and A/P interface management.
  • Author technical specifications for the implementation of system points of control enforcing operations compliance to corporate inventory policies and procedures.

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar (e.g., B.S. in Business with a major in accounting) from a four-year college or university is required. Master of Accountancy and/or MBA is preferred.
  • At least 8 years relevant work experience inclusive of roles with increasing responsibility
  • At least 3 years supervisory experience also preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant is strongly preferred
  • Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, field leadership and/or the Boards of Directors
  • Communicates effectively with international staff who do not use English as their first language
