Safety and Security Manager

The Safety and Security Manager ensures the effective implementation of Wizz Air's Safety and Security Management Systems. The role involves managing safety and security initiatives, conducting investigations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Safety Management System Responsibilities 

• Contributes to the development and maintenance of Wizz Air’s Safety Management System (SMS) 
• Leads and supervises the Safety Captain/ SCA, and FRM team members in conjunction with the Operations Safety and FRM Manager 
• Promotes and encourages effective safety reporting 
• Facilitates hazard identification, safety risk assessments, and change management processes 
• Prepares material and manages Safety Action Group meetings and support of HOSSC in the preparation of Safety review board meetings 
• Acts as a conduit for safety information, ensuring management and staff are informed of safety issues 
• Analyses safety data for trends and maintains an up-to-date risk register 
• Facilitates safety investigations and ensures timely reporting to authorities 
• Develops and distributes safety bulletins and quarterly safety updates 
• Provides training for flight safety, compliance, and alertness management 
• Monitors industry legislation changes and safety trends, initiating risk mitigation actions as needed 

Security Management System Responsibilities 

• Promotes and maintains Wizz Air’s security standards 
• Liaises with governments, airport authorities, and law enforcement agencies on security matters 
• Conducts risk analysis, threat assessments, and implement response measures 
• Develops security procedures and coordinates security training for staff 
• Monitors and improves the Wizz Air Security Program’s effectiveness 
• Coordinates security measures for high-risk flights and passengers 
• Manages No-Fly List-related matters and conducts risk assessments 
• Develops and updates Wizz Air’s security contingency plans 
• Reports acts of unlawful interference and security occurrences to authorities 

Additional Responsibilities 

• Represents Wizz Air on safety and security committees and conferences 
• Collaborates with authorities, OEMs, and vendors as delegated by the Head of Safety, Security & Compliance 

Experience

• 4-6+ years overall work experience, with 3+ years' experience in aviation industry in a managerial role 
• Experience in safety, security, compliance, or quality control 
• Experience with air carrier operations and managing complex projects 

Hard skills

• Strong knowledge of safety management principles (EASA, ICAO, IOSA) 
• Proficiency in SMS software and tools 
• Data analysis and statistical knowledge 
• Experience with ICAO/IATA security training (preferred) 
• Experience in Safety and Security Management Systems and risk management   

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
