Aircraft Systems and EHM 

Based in Luton 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

The Aircraft Systems and EHM (Engine Health Monitoring) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continued airworthiness and optimal performance of the Airbus A320 family fleet. This includes managing, monitoring, and analyzing aircraft systems and engine health data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and operational reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Aircraft Systems Management

  • Monitor and manage the performance and reliability of aircraft systems, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, landing gear, and environmental control systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend incorporation Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and other manufacturer or regulatory recommendations into the maintenance programme.
  • Support in investigating and resolving technical issues related to aircraft systems in collaboration with maintenance and operational teams.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for recurring system defects and develop corrective/ preventive measures.
  • Support the preparation of engineering orders and instructions for system modifications, repairs, or upgrades.

2. Engine Health Monitoring (EHM)

  • Monitor engine health and performance data from onboard systems and EHM tools (e.g. AVIATAR, Pratt & Whitney ADEM).
  • Analyze engine trends to detect early signs of wear, deterioration, or abnormalities to prevent in-service failures.
  • Provide technical support for engine-related issues, including troubleshooting and managing unscheduled maintenance events.
  • Collaborate with engine OEMs and AMOs to address engine performance issues and implement solutions.

3. Regulatory Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with UK CAA Part M, Part CAMO regulations for aircraft systems and engine health management.
  • Maintain accurate records and technical documentation for system and engine monitoring activities.
  • Provide input for the Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP) to ensure continued airworthiness.

4. Operational Support

  • Provide real-time technical support to MAINTROL during operational disruptions, including Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
  • Work closely with MAINROL and contracted AMO line and base maintenance teams to resolve system and engine-related issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist in aircraft delivery, redelivery, and lease return processes by ensuring compliance with technical and contractual requirements.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze reliability data to identify areas for improvement and recommend system or engine performance enhancements.
  • Support initiatives to implement predictive maintenance tools and practices.
  • Contribute to fleet-wide projects, including system upgrades, retrofit programmes, or performance optimization initiatives.

 

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an airline CAMO or engineering role, with a focus on aircraft systems and/or engine health monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of Airbus A320 family aircraft systems and engines (Pratt & Whitney PW1100G).
  • Familiarity with EHM tools and platforms (e.g.,AVIATAR, Airbus Skywise, OEM-specific software).
  • Proficiency in interpreting aircraft manuals, schematics, and technical data (AMM, IPC, FIM, etc.).

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams, OEMs, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (e.g., AMOS).

 

Additional Requirements

  • Strong understanding of UK CAA Part M, Part CAMO regulatory frameworks.
  • Airbus A320 training courses.
