MAINTROL Projects Engineer 

Based in Luton 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

This role is critical for delivering key maintenance and engineering projects that ensure the airline’s fleet remains airworthy, efficient, and compliant. The MAINTROL Projects Engineer contributes to operational excellence by managing complex initiatives with precision and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering and maintenance-related projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Manage projects such as fleet modifications, system upgrades, aircraft transitions (delivery, redelivery, or lease return), and component changes.
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans to ensure efficient execution.

2. Technical Support

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance for special projects, ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Analyse and implement engineering changes, Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and other modifications as required.

3. Coordination and Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between CAMO/TO, Maintenance Operations, OEMs, AMOs, and regulatory authorities for assigned projects.
  • Ensure clear communication of project objectives, timelines, and requirements to all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with planning, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of parts, tooling, and resources.

4. Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all project activities meet applicable regulatory standards (e.g., UK CAA Part-M/Part-CAMO, Part-145, or equivalent).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project activities, including approvals, modifications, and work scope changes.
  • Support audits and inspections related to project activities.

5. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track and monitor project progress, identifying potential risks or delays and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on project status, milestones, and outcomes to management and stakeholders.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate completed projects to identify lessons learned and recommend process improvements for future initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Training: Airbus A320FAM Training Course (preferably with Aircraft A320 (PW) B1/B2 Licence)
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a CAMO, maintenance engineering, or project management role within an airline or MRO environment.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of continuing airworthiness regulations (e.g., UK CAA Part-M/Part-CAMO, Part-145, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance programmes, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (AMOS).
  • Skills: Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in AMOS and in MS Office and project management software.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work on shift and overtime, if needed.
