Security Manager 

Based in Luton 

 

 

Purpose of the position:

 

The purpose of the position is to enable an entity to identify and manage WUK security risks and be assured right up to Board level that the security measures taken to manage those risks are effective and to be the nominate person as Cyber Security Responsible Manager (UK CAA CAP1753) to act as point of contact for cyber security matters.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving an effective security management system.
  • Ensuring compliance with the NASP, including cyber security requirements.
  • Regularly reviewing to keep pace with ever-changing cyber security trends.
  • Proactively applying appropriate and proportionate cyber security best practices to operations.
  • Accepting or rejecting risks and taking action according to the company risk tolerability matrix.
  • Ensuring effective risk analysis, threat assessment and response capability, security culture, and insider threat assessment policies within WUK.
  • Conducting threat assessments and implementing special security measures during periods or incidents of increased threat.
  • Formulating an overall security policy for approval by the Accountable Manager.
  • Promoting and disseminating company-wide security standards within Wizz Air UK in coordination with Wizz Air Central.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective security liaison with governments, airport authorities, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintaining effective security liaison with the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the UK Department for Transport.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the Wizz Air UK Security Program according to the security quality control program.
  • Reporting all actual or suspected acts of unlawful interference with aircraft operations and mandatory security occurrences to the appropriate authority.
  • In coordination with Wizz Air Central, and if required with Security Observers and Security Pilots, managing mid- to long-term projects and maintaining continuous oversight of deviations from company standards, ensuring the timely execution of corrective and improvement actions, and systematic risk assessment.
  • Liaising with functional managers, nominated persons, Wizz Air Central, and other AOCs within the Wizz Air Group on security matters.
  • Assessing future potential risks through active review of projected demands in line with operational growth and proactively identifying suitable resources, technologies, systems, or processes to mitigate risks, in coordination with Wizz Air Central.
  • Participating in new route assessments from a security perspective.
  • Conducting internal and external security inspections, audits, and airport assessments.
  • Analyzing security-related reports from company departments and taking appropriate actions in coordination with line management.
  • Participating in the development of security training syllabi for Wizz Air UK crew members.
  • Monitoring activities of legal entities related to security.
  • Monitoring activities of Wizz Air UK departments related to security.
  • Providing passenger information to law enforcement authorities upon request, in coordination with the Legal department and other relevant teams as needed.
  • Coordinating the tasks and managing the Wizz Air UK Security Pilot and Security Observer in their functional roles.
  • Coordinating and supervising the physical security of Wizz Air UK bases.
  • Cooperating with the Security Support Specialist, Corporate Security Manager, and Security Auditor on background checks, ID cards, office protection, and other security-related matters.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's/Master's university degree
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation (Cabin, Ground, Flight, Airworthiness).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an appropriate position.
  • At least 3 years residence in the UK
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work to deadlines, and pay attention to details.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical thinker and observer with the ability to critically assess requirements and identify possible non-compliances.
  • Strong ability to work flexibly - managing changing and competing priorities and absorbing new information rapidly to address complex issues.
  • Able to challenge and influence others, including more senior colleagues and stakeholders, to ensure that the right outcomes are achieved.
  • Strong ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, to work collaboratively to improve the safety and compliance management system.
  • Proven ability to systematically analyze information and to objectively present non-compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to build processes and procedures.
  • Ability to travel.

 

 

Technical skills, knowledge:

  • Aviation Security Manager - Syllabus as per UK SCD (Aviation)
  • ICAO ASTP/Basic/Management.
  • Security Auditing and Quality Control
  • SeMS training
  • Cyber Security
