Purpose of the role:
The Group Data Protection Officer will be responsible for directing and overseeing all data protection activities for the Group (currently includes Wizz Air Hungary, Wizz Air UK, Wizz Air Malta and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi). The role is appointed to fulfil a statutory obligation for a Data Protection Officer under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as local requirements. The Group Data Protection Officer will report to the Head of Legal, with dotted line reporting to the Corporate Officer.

Key responsibilities:
- Managing the assignment of responsibilities to ensure privacy by design at all levels and to deliver compliance with data protection laws and policies of the Group
- Informing and advising on data protection laws and policies of the Group
- Maintaining appropriate data protection policies and procedures and ensuring their implementation
- Monitoring compliance with data protection laws and policies of the Group: collection of information to identify processing activities, analysis and review of compliance of processing activities
- Overseeing the maintenance of records required to demonstrate data protection compliance
- Supervising and advising on data protection impact assessments
- Managing a program of awareness-raising and training to deliver compliance and to foster a data privacy culture within the Group
- Ensuring that the Group addresses all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes
- Liaising with service providers and other contracted partners who participate in the data processing activities of the Group
- Acting as a point of contact with EU residents, supervisory authorities and internal teams
- Follow up with changes in data protection law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance
- Continuous review to simplify and streamline processes to provide scalability for growth of the business
Requirements:
- Master's degree
- Legal background and at least 5 years of experience in a consulting company or in a law firm and/or in the legal or compliance department of a multinational company with proven experience in Data Protection and IT Law
- Solid knowledge of the European data protection legal framework
- In-depth understanding of the GDPR (the candidate should ideally hold a CIPP/E and/or CIPM as well as CISM or CISSP)
- Experience with developing, documenting, communicating and rolling out a global privacy program
- Experience in tools to automate privacy, and to report on privacy compliance
- Knowledge of cybersecurity risks, PCI DSS and other information security standards
- Understanding of global privacy law in relation to all business functions (sales, marketing, HR, R&D)
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage cross-functional projects
- Ability to make good judgements regarding data privacy risks and to prioritize resources and activity around managing those risks
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective communication capabilities, both verbal and written and comfortable working with diverse cultures
- Ability to work with peers and senior management, inspiring trust and confidence
- Good organizing and coordinating skills
- Fluent professional English, both spoken and written
- High degree of independence, with attention to detail
