Purpose of the role
What does SMS mean for you? Safety Management System? Then we assume that you are familiar with the aviation world. This role requires proven experience in aviation safety, compliance, and quality control. You will be responsible for running the SMS organization, including goal setting of the team members, follow-up on of their performance, and supervising the daily operation of the SMS in the operation area.

Key responsibilities
The Aviation Safety Coordinator is responsible for safety management activities in the field of flight, cabin, ground operation and fatigue risk management.
- Setting up and running the SMS organization, including goal setting of the team members, follow-up on their performance, and supervising the daily operation of the SMS on the operation area;
- Maintaining and coordination of airline of hazard identification, risk assessment;
- Support and review of mitigating actions for identified hazards and risks;
- Coordination of safety related activities of airline operations departments
- Participation in assessment of operational risks with appropriate nominated postholder/operational manager;
- Coordinate activities of subordinates: safety captains, safety SCAs, FRM team and ground ops safety support;
- Reporting and coordination of MORs to EASA and follow up of on time closing;
- Investigation of safety reports and proper linking to SPIs and risk register;
- Prepare material and manage Functional Safety Action Group meetings;
- Review and follow up and support of management of change and other required actions in case of identification of changes in the environment of Wizz Air operations and/or regulatory framework;
- Suggest update and development of Integrated Management Software;
- Development, implementation and constant review of safety KPIs and SPIs;
- Suggest changes to company SMS training syllabus;
- Provision of required input into Safety Review Board, Safety Action group and other safety related meetings;
- Monitoring of industry trends and hazards for implementation of proactive mitigating actions in the company;
- Participation in development of a positive corporate safety culture;
- Participation in development of safety related policies, procedures and manuals.
Required skills and competencies
- Completed university or college degree
- Excellent knowledge of safety management principles (EASA, ICAO, IOSA);
- Significant experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management;
- Previous work experience in aviation safety, compliance, quality control;
- Experience in air carrier operations is a plus;
- Experience in management of complex projects;
- PC user skills at advanced level (MS Office);
- Experience with SMS software and tools;
- Solid presentation skills;
- Data analysis skills and good knowledge of statistics;
- Analytical skills, creativity; ability to work autonomously;
- Strong time management and organizational skills;
- Current or former Pilot license on A320 family or similar type is an advantage;
- Experience with Fatigue risk management is advantage
