Senior HR Manager Wizz Air Malta


Purpose of the position:


In this role the jobholder will be responsible for the HR strategic development of the Wizz Air Malta and will oversee the operative functioning as well by ensuring a smooth operating model in relation to all the undergoing processes of the Company. Responsible for the implementation and harmonization of group service standards, processes, policies together with the Senior HR Manager for  Wizz Air Hungary. The jobholder acts as the final escalation point for issues related to payroll, taxation, compliance, immigration and contracting matters. The Senior HR Manager WAM will report to the Head of HR.


General responsibilities:


  • Serves as the primary source of HR knowledge to HR team and organizational stakeholders.
  • Develops an HR strategy for the countries within the region which is in line with the organizations, regional, and global goals and objectives.
  • Develops and implements a manpower planning of the HR team in order to have the needed staff with the right competence on time, both national and international.
  • Ensures that the HR team and external service providers are working in a harmonized manner in accordance with the standard operation procedures and policies, defined SLA’s and KPI’s and identifies and implements mechanisms to promote cooperation, communication and teamwork within Wizz Air Group
  • Responsible for annual, quarterly and monthly cost control, for annual saving targets for Wizz Air Malta
  • In partnership with the Compensation and Benefits team, defines and reviews in-country salary structure and benefit plans and communicates changes or updates
  • Acts as an impartial mediator in disciplinary procedures and ensure it is administered in an equitable and fair manner and meets all legal and labor regulations and requirements.
  • Sets the expectation in agreement with the Head of HR for the reporting structure, dashboards, KPIs and secures those are delivered
  • Oversees preparation of regular and ad hoc executive Leadership reports
  • Supports Wizz Air Malta HR team in overseeing outsourced service providers performance against deliverables set in the SLAs for Wizz Air Malta HR operations.
  • Oversees global HR projects and makes a continuous effort in the development of further HR-relevant structures/processes.


People management:


  • Manages a team of Regional HR and HR Managers
  • Ensures constant headcount and workforce management
  • Establishes and monitors a stable knowledge management base and capability in order to ensure continuous business operation
  • Shows example as a leader by managing, coaching, motivating and developing team members
  • Makes sure to collect employee experience feedback on a regular basis




  • College or University degree
  • 7+ years of experience in delivering and steering high-quality customer services in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced knowledge on payroll procedures
  • Experience in coordinating operational teams with different backgrounds and professional orientations
  • Experience in strategic leading will be a valuable advantage
  • Analytical thinking, good problem solving and well-organized way of working
  • Continuous improvement mindset, focus on team development
  • Advanced computer skills, including Office applications, combined with tech and digitalization affinity
  • Experience with SAP/Payroll systems will be an advantage
  • Excellent English, additional European language will be a plus
  • Good communication and people management skills
